Projects > Council Ridge

Begun in 2009, the Council Ridge Project is a joint effort of the Escondido Creek Conservancy, the Deer Park Monastery private property owners and other community and conservation organizations such as the Friends of Daley Ranch . The Council Ridge Project will result in the preservation of up to 400 acres of land adjacent to the Daley Ranch in the City of Escondido. Preservation of privately held properties from willing sellers totaling 300+ acres is the focus of the project plus, when the private lands are secured, the Monastery will donate up to 100 acres of its land to the project. The Council Ridge Project is directly adjacent to the 3,058-acre Daley Ranch, a conservation area acquired by the City of Escondido in 1996 and protected in perpetuity for the preservation of a biologically unique and diverse habitat area of regional importance. LCB is working as the broker for the Escondido Creek Conservancy, which is acting to facilitate the project. The project area includes sensitive habitats including coastal sage scrub and riparian forest. Project lands offer multiple mitigation and restoration opportunities; there is also an investment opportunity for those looking to help the project via a short term private conservation partnership.
