Projects > Famosa Slough

The Famosa Slough is a 37-acre wetland between Ocean Beach and the San Diego Sports Arena area in the City of San Diego. The slough is connected via a channel to the San Diego River which flows into the ocean at Ocean Beach. In 2009, LCB began assisting the Friends of Famosa Slough (Friends), a non-profit corporation, to help the Friends secure the last key privately held properties near the slough. Working with willing sellers, LCB is acting as the Friends’ broker to help secure the properties, both of which include sensitive wetlands and uplands habitat. Grant funds are being sought and mitigation opportunities investigated; both properties could be restored for difficult-to-find coastal salt marsh mitigation credit.
